As the Cradle Rocks

Whispers of a song she sings,
Lost in the absence of material things,
The music of her innocent beats,
Forgotten are all of human defeats.
With tears and a smile,
Staying there for a while,
She rocks the cradle that night.

Of memories yet to be made,
Of infant games yet to be played,
Of a child longing to grow,
Of a visage with a maternal glow,
Of a love that is felt eternal,
Of a child that is at peace,
She rocks the cradle that night.

Born to her is a new life,
An eternal peace that binds all,
Humans and beast alike,
A mother’s warmth that is mystic,
A wordless song that is music,
A touch that is by now well-known,
With tears and a smile,
Staying there for a while,
She rocks the cradle that night.
